The Book

If I could only save one book for future generations,  I would probably choose the Bible as well.  The reason I would choose the Bible is because it is one of the best books every written.  The Bible had been around for a long long time.
I have actually never read the Bible even though I used to go to church.  Even though I have not read it I would still pick the Bible to save for future generations.
The Bible is almost everywhere and people turn to it when things go bad or just need something to read.  It has helped make us who we are today which is probably the main reason I would choose it.  With out the Bible who knows what we our views would be today and who knows how we would be.

Halloween

Halloween is an awesome holiday and I wish that it would not be weird if people our age went out trick-or-treating because it is just a lot of fun.  Being able to fill up a bag with FREE candy is one of the best things ever!  Then you dump it out when you get home and get to see an amazing pile of candy.  Seeing all the candy that you got from each house is one of the best things about Halloween.
The thing I do not like about Halloween is that it only lasts two hours.  It makes everything so rushed.  Another thing I do not like about Halloween is that it is on school nights sometimes which pretty much means that once you are done trick-or-treating, you have to go get ready for bed.
The great memory I have from Halloween was with my friend Nick.  We were running from house to house and it was pretty much pitch black outside.  The houses we were out were beginning to be on a slight hill and between each yard there would be a steep hill.  We started running to one house and we noticed that it was a 90 degree drop so we skidded to a halt.  The fall was probably only 6-7 feet, but for us being in elementary, that is very high.  We were freaked out by that but it was also very cool that we barely did not fall off. That is my favorite memory that I have from Halloween and one I will not forget.

What I'd Change

The main thing that comes to mind if I had to change anything at Wright State University would be making more parking spots.  I am a commuter and it is very tough finding a spot to park during certain times of the day.  You either have to get to Wright State before 8:00a.m. to find one or come around 6:00p.m. to find one.  This can be a very tedious thing when you have class at 10:00a.m. - 4:00p.m.
I once spent 25 minutes trying to find a spot in one parking lot around noon.  I almost missed my meeting because of it.  There were about five other cars in the same lot trying to find a spot as well which made things even more complicated because I had to find one before they did which did not happen exactly.  When someone would pull out I would try to get there but there was already someone else who had gotten the spot before I did.
I do know that they even added a new lot, but that still did not do much.  There are still tons of people trying to find spots in closer lots and that can take near 30 minutes as it did with me.  To solve this problem I pretty much have to get there early everyday of the week.
Other than there not being enough parking spots at Wright State there is not really anything else that I would change.  It is a good school and I am proud to be attending it.

Process of revision

To start off, I feel pretty good with my original drafts.  I know that they are not perfect or anything near perfect but they are still pretty good.  When I go to revise my papers, it is really nice to have the other students read through them because they find errors that I could not find.  Then I am able to go back and fix all of those errors.  This is a very helpful process.  It is also very helpful when the teacher reads over my paper too.  She is able to find more mistakes and errors I had made that the other students had missed.  Overall, having both the teacher and students read over my drafts help out a lot.  I am not having any difficulties in revision except for just making my papers long enough.  Other than that I am doing a pretty good job on my drafts and on my revision process.

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec

The piece of art that I chose by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was Graf Alphonse de Toulouse-Lautrec lenkt einen Vierspänner. The picture was painted in 1881.  This is a painting of two many on a horse drawn carriage.  There are four horses pulling the carriage and it appears they are riding on a shore line.
This painting is very intense.  The horses appear to be running at full force splashing water next to the shore line.
I like how the two men are painted.  One of the men is driving the carriage with a long jacket, beard and top hat.  The other man is leaning back with his arms and legs crossed, hat pulled down in the front, and looking all cool.
There is a tree line not to far off in the distance which makes the shore line seem that is more of a shore line to a lake or river rather than an ocean.
I reason I chose this painting over the others because I really like how intense but yet calm it is.  The horses give it an intense and fast moving image.  On the other hand, how calm the two men are on the carriage slows things down in a way.
Henri de Toulouse has a lot of amazing paintings and I am glad I got to see them.

Children and Television

In this day and age, television is a big part of society.  A lot of people blame it the television for making our children not as healthy, not as educated, and less independent individuals as others around the world.  In my opinion the television is not the reason for all these things that are blamed.  Yes, the television can cause these problems but it is not the thing that is holding you in front of it.  People will choose to sit there and watch TV on their own.  They have the will power to get up and walk away from it but they choose not to.  It is not the television that is the problem; it is the laziness of the person watching the television that is the one to blame.
In general, the television has a lot of educational and helpful shows on it that can help people in life but there are a huge number of people out there that do not watch those shows and watch comedies and cartoons instead.  For me, I like to watch a verity of shows that are education, funny, and sometimes just plain stupid.  I will also spend a couple of hours doing that but I am not over weight at all because I go out and exercise and move around.  There are people though that do just sit around all day and that is what causes them to become not healthy and less independent.  If people would just manage their time between the television and exercise, then they would be healthy, educated, and more independent.

Coca Cola Commercial Ringtone

Advertising to me is something that can be very powerful and by that I mean that it can make people do things that they would not normally do or can make people act ways they normally might not act. Advertising is almost like propaganda. When companies advertise a product they want to make it look awesome and catch the eye of the public. Companies will make images or scenes that are fascinating to the public and they will make the public get drawn into whatever it is that the company is selling. I think that advertising is a very interesting thing. I enjoy seeing some amazing images and scenes that other people have invented. And then there are those images and scenes that are not the greatest which I do not really enjoy seeing.
I love Coca-Cola and I also love the way they advertise. They make great images and commercials that make people cheer up and smile. Also Coke comes up with catchy slogans that also catch the public like “Have a Coke and a Smile” and “Coca-Cola Open Happiness.” Coca-Cola knows how to advertise well and differently for each season and even each holiday.
Here is a commercial that Coca-Cola did a few years ago with their slogan “the Coke side of life.” I like this commercial a lot because it is something that the public can relate to and I am sure people out there have even attempted what goes on in the commercial. I hope you all enjoy the commercial.

Wright State University

I decided to attend Wright State University because of how close it is to my own home.  Since I’m from Centerville and Wright State University is only 20 minutes from my house, I found it to be a great school to attend.  I enjoy being close to home and I would not mind living in Centerville when I get done with college.  I do commute to school so it is nice being able to go home every night.
Another reason why I decided to attend Wright State University is because I have a lot of friends that go here.  I am really glad that I know quite a few people from Centerville that came here.  It is nice being able to hang out with my high school friends and see them everyday.  I do not think I would do well at a college if I did not know anyone else there.  It would be a tough thing to get used to and very nerve wrecking as well.
Also, a lot of my family attended Wright State University so it is nice that they were able to help me out when I started.  My uncle did Air Force ROTC here which I find very cool because I am as well doing Air Force ROTC at the same school he did.  My grandma actually used to work here and that is one of the reasons my family came here because they got discounts so it all worked out nice in the end.
These are the reasons I decided to attend Wright Sate University and I am glad I made that decision.  I am enjoying it a lot at this school and am making a lot of good memories already.

The King of Rock and Roll

My significant song is “Burning Love” by Elvis Presley. The purpose for choosing this song is because of the show we did in marching band last year at Centerville High School. Our show was titled “Icon: The Art of Elvis.” Icon got us 12th best in the nation at Bands of America. Icon was an amazing and well done show. I’m sure a lot of people here, unless they competed in Bands of America or have ever seen a Bands of America event don’t understand what real marching band is. There are a lot of marching bands out there who just play music and march at their football games, but then there are other marching bands like the Centerville Jazz Band, who go out and compete against the best bands in the nation.
During marching band last year an Elvis impersonator came to Centerville High School. He sang many great songs, but one of them was “Burning Love.” The Elvis impersonator did a very good job I must say. And now, every time I hear this song or pretty much any song by Elvis, I think of my last year being in the Centerville Jazz Band. From doing the show Icon, I learned a lot about Elvis and his music and that made his songs more meaningful to me. I hope that people can relate or understand how I feel toward this song by what I have talked about here and maybe understand a little better by the video.

This video here is the Centerville Jazz Bands preliminary show at Bands of America's Grand National Championship.

Coca-Cola Caleb

Hello, my name is Caleb Joseph Brethauer and I was born in Kettering, Ohio.  I have lived in Centerville practically my whole life.  So obviously I graduated from Centerville High School (CHS).  CHS was a great school.  It had its ups and downs but that’s normal since it’s school.  The one main thing I loved about CHS was being in the Centerville Jazz Band (CJB), which is our marching band.  I played cymbals in marching band so I was in the drumline section.  Last year we got 12th best in the nation at Bands of America (BOA).  BOA is a marching band competition that brings about 100 bands from around the U.S. to compete at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Being in the CJB was one of the most amazing experiences of my life and I will never forget it.

If you hadn’t noticed yet, I really like Coca-Cola products, hence my nickname Coca-Cola Caleb.  I also like the military and that’s why I’m in Air Force ROTC here at Wright State.  My major is criminal justice and when I graduate I am hoping to be in the security police for the Air Force.  The security police are the Air Forces name for military police.  After I retire from the military I am planning on being a regular patrol cop.
This is pretty much the stuff you need to know about me.  But if you have any other questions feel free to ask.  Thank you for reading my blog.
