I decided to attend Wright State University because of how close it is to my own home. Since I’m from Centerville and Wright State University is only 20 minutes from my house, I found it to be a great school to attend. I enjoy being close to home and I would not mind living in Centerville when I get done with college. I do commute to school so it is nice being able to go home every night.
Another reason why I decided to attend Wright State University is because I have a lot of friends that go here. I am really glad that I know quite a few people from Centerville that came here. It is nice being able to hang out with my high school friends and see them everyday. I do not think I would do well at a college if I did not know anyone else there. It would be a tough thing to get used to and very nerve wrecking as well.
Also, a lot of my family attended Wright State University so it is nice that they were able to help me out when I started. My uncle did Air Force ROTC here which I find very cool because I am as well doing Air Force ROTC at the same school he did. My grandma actually used to work here and that is one of the reasons my family came here because they got discounts so it all worked out nice in the end.
These are the reasons I decided to attend Wright Sate University and I am glad I made that decision. I am enjoying it a lot at this school and am making a lot of good memories already.

The King of Rock and Roll
My significant song is “Burning Love” by Elvis Presley. The purpose for choosing this song is because of the show we did in marching band last year at Centerville High School. Our show was titled “Icon: The Art of Elvis.” Icon got us 12th best in the nation at Bands of America. Icon was an amazing and well done show. I’m sure a lot of people here, unless they competed in Bands of America or have ever seen a Bands of America event don’t understand what real marching band is. There are a lot of marching bands out there who just play music and march at their football games, but then there are other marching bands like the Centerville Jazz Band, who go out and compete against the best bands in the nation.
During marching band last year an Elvis impersonator came to Centerville High School. He sang many great songs, but one of them was “Burning Love.” The Elvis impersonator did a very good job I must say. And now, every time I hear this song or pretty much any song by Elvis, I think of my last year being in the Centerville Jazz Band. From doing the show Icon, I learned a lot about Elvis and his music and that made his songs more meaningful to me. I hope that people can relate or understand how I feel toward this song by what I have talked about here and maybe understand a little better by the video. This video here is the Centerville Jazz Bands preliminary show at Bands of America's Grand National Championship.

Coca-Cola Caleb
Hello, my name is Caleb Joseph Brethauer and I was born in Kettering, Ohio. I have lived in Centerville practically my whole life. So obviously I graduated from Centerville High School (CHS). CHS was a great school. It had its ups and downs but that’s normal since it’s school. The one main thing I loved about CHS was being in the Centerville Jazz Band (CJB), which is our marching band. I played cymbals in marching band so I was in the drumline section. Last year we got 12th best in the nation at Bands of America (BOA). BOA is a marching band competition that brings about 100 bands from around the U.S. to compete at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Being in the CJB was one of the most amazing experiences of my life and I will never forget it.
If you hadn’t noticed yet, I really like Coca-Cola products, hence my nickname Coca-Cola Caleb. I also like the military and that’s why I’m in Air Force ROTC here at Wright State. My major is criminal justice and when I graduate I am hoping to be in the security police for the Air Force. The security police are the Air Forces name for military police. After I retire from the military I am planning on being a regular patrol cop.
This is pretty much the stuff you need to know about me. But if you have any other questions feel free to ask. Thank you for reading my blog.
